remember that today, the 31st running of the badwater ultramarathon is being held. this may be the toughest race on the earth. i'd love to do it, but don't know if i'm tough enough. i'd need several years of training for it.

Of course you are. When we first met a little more than two years ago, you were little more than a jogger. Now not only do you run marathons like NY and Boston but the crazy ones like Quebec and Jay Peak. Not that I want to see you run Badwater but "toughness" isn't the issue, just good sense. :)
